What’s your story?
I’m a writer and psychosocial researcher, and I’m fascinated by who we are, what we want, and the choices we make. I write about women who have hit their middle years, realised that more has passed than is yet to come, and decided that from here on in, they are going to make it count.

Tillie Harris is a psychosocial researcher and writer. For half a lifetime she did All The Things. She worked hard, married the person, had the kids – and then the bottom fell out of her life anyway.
Now Tillie is now on a quest to understand what holds us where we are, so we can unlock what who we want to be. Midlifed is her sporadic column where she talks about leaning into the middle years and learning to live differently.

Tillie is a psychosocial researcher and writer. She’s trained in Social Anthropology, Psychotherapy and Journalism, all as excuses to ask strangers intensely personal questions about who they are, what they want and whether change is possible. For years she has collected stories of women who used to live one way, and now live another – each time looking to capture new understanding of what holds people where they are, and what sets them free. Currently she’s writing a book about what she’s learnt.
Midlifed is Tillie’s sporadic column where she talks about leaning into the middle years and what it takes to become more whole.

Stories of women with
the courage to change
(forthcoming)
From Hollywood reporters to London social workers, this book tells the stories of women who refuse to slow down and fade out. It’s about the women who have pressed the ‘fuck-it’ button on toxic careers, survived broken hearts, been tragically bereaved, or woken up to realise they’ve never truly been loved. It’s about women stepping out of the shadows to claim the central role in their own lives.

Coming soon…
We are super excited to announce that we are working on Series 1 of the Midlifed podcast. This collection of intimate conversations with women in their 40s and 50s looks at the pivot points of modern midlife – from losing a parent to reimagining a career. It explores the drives and desires that underpin the choices we make and what brings us to where we are.
Each episode features an inspiring woman who took misfortune as an opportunity to change, and found the courage to step forward into a deeper, more authentic life.
